A Wonderful Start: My Heartfelt Wedding Fair Journey with Dress Me Up by Elizabeth Jane

It’s hard to believe that Dress Me Up by Elizabeth Jane only began in November—especially considering this journey actually started back in July under the name Seconda. What began as a small idea quickly grew, evolved, and blossomed into what is now Dress Me Up, a warm and welcoming boutique serving Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, and beyond. I couldn’t be more grateful for this transformation or the incredible people I’ve met along the way.

Even in these first few months, my journey has been filled with so much joy, excitement, and connection. I’ve had the pleasure of attending four wonderful wedding fairs across the region, and each one has reminded me exactly why I stepped into the world of wedding dresses, mother of the bride outfits, bridesmaid dresses, ball gowns, and prom dresses.

From the moment I stepped into my very first wedding fair, I felt instantly at home. Meeting newly engaged couples from Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, and surrounding areas was an absolute highlight. Hearing their love stories, learning about their wedding plans, and helping them imagine their perfect gown has brought me so much inspiration. Whether couples were searching for a timeless wedding dress, elegant mother of the bride attire, or beautiful options for their bridesmaids, it felt incredibly special to be part of these early moments of their planning.

What has made this experience even more meaningful is the warm and welcoming community of fellow suppliers. Starting a new bridal and occasion-wear business can be daunting, but I’ve been embraced with open arms by talented wedding professionals from across the region. We’ve shared advice, swapped stories, supported one another through busy wedding fair weekends, and even created lasting friendships. It’s this sense of community that makes the local wedding industry in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire so special.

Accomplishing so much in just a few months fills me with gratitude. These four wedding fairs have helped me grow Dress Me Up not only as a business, but also as a space of creativity, confidence, and connection. Seeing brides, mums, and bridesmaids walk into my boutique and light up when trying on wedding dresses, mother of the bride outfits, bridesmaid gowns, prom dresses, and ball gowns is truly the heart of what I do.
